Sadness

Bad news for a friend today. Wish I could help out, but...*sigh*...they just need time alone I guess. Still thinking good, positive thoughts though...

Sweetie Pie

My sweet puppy had a tooth pulled this morning. Just a baby tooth that hadn't grown up. She's fine, but wasn't particularly fond of the big wire tweezers in her mouth. She's better now. I believe it's time for more Bikram Yoga this evening...sometime after 8PM so I don't miss Gilmore Girls. Just stated a Dean Koontz book called "From the Corner of his eye" - quite good. I also received my selected poems by Tennyson hardcover in the mail this afternoon...he's my favorite.

Bikram

I went to a Bikram Yoga class last night (room dark and warm, humid and inviting at 105 degrees) I was drenched in sweat, loose and energized...it's not as fun as power yoga because it's less flow, but it's invigorating none-the-less. I will definitely go back. I'm a wee bit tight all over this morning but it feels good. Now I'm enjoying a chocolate chocolate chip muffin from Cuppa Java to celebrate. Must write down a few songs today.

Music

What an amazing day for music...press, people, bookers and even the post office seem to be on board to help me out. How rare and sweet. I'm off to Happy Hour and a massage to celebrate this good day. I'm going to read "Running with Scissors" tonight. And Nina Simone has been keeping me company while in the car. Actually, I think "glorious" day fits better don't you?

books

I missed reading - so it's nice to come home to a book once again. Pearl's "Dante Club" is almost finished...it reminds me of Caleb Carr's "The Alienist"...dark, cerebral and clever. Luckily I have more paperbacks to devour. I'm especially looking forward to "Running with Scissors". Oh and I picked up Howie Day's latest CD, "She Says" is a great song...I don't mind at all that's it's been swimming through my brain all morning.

Dante Club

There is a great quote from Pearl's "The Dante Club" that I wanted to share for anyone who loves to read, who understands the joy of learning...and the power of the written word.

"Till America has learned to love literature not as an amusement, not as a mere doggerel to memorize in a college room, but for its humanizing and ennobling energy...she will not have succeeded in that high sense which alone makes a nation out of a people. That which raises it from a dead name to a living power."

update

Officially, I need a vacation. Snow is still pretty but my toes haven't been warm since Christmas. Music is still wonderful. I took in a bit of the hockey game last night - not too exciting. Now I have to find a place that ships wine and then I'm getting my taxes done. what a fun day huh? I might be in bed by 7pm this evening. Wouldn't that be lovely...?

Music

Mr. Manager told me the only way to tell if an album/CD is good is to listen to it in the car. Kind of funny, but correct. I made a stop at Petsmart last night on a break to buy some treats and listen to some tracks in the car. I'm so excited about the music we're making - for lack of a better definition or explanation...it's very real. Recorded live, all at the same time (save an occassional harmony or two) but otherwise the essence of the music is energetic, with pulses. Almost like seeing a live show.

I was given hockey tickets for this evening but I have no idea how that's supposed to work as it's rather difficult to be in two places at the same time...oh well...

hockey

All star game is over so Mpls/St. Paul is returning to normal. I'm probably going to a hockey game tomorrow night for a break. Mixing is going VERY well. SO HAPPY! CD layout next to brilliant thank you to Mr. manager's creativity. Not functioning at 100%. More later...maybe.

books and pets

The Humane Society book sale and silent auction starts tonight. Good way to support the sweet little critters that you can't take home with you. Rough week for some people...I'm hoping things get better. I have songs to write, but as ani Difranco says, "My fingers are sore and my voice is too..."

Just a bit later I think...

music

recording is wonderful. Sorry, I'm a broken record...but still very pleased. Now I'm simply tired...still very very very tired. I could go for a vacation some place sunny. How odd...I usually hate the sun, but a beach sounds great at the moment. That's it for now...my fingers are still numb at the tips so typing is an experience to say the least.

Grrrr...

Studio is wonderful. However, I got home last night around 1am and had to shovel out from the plow to park my car so when I finally got inside I discovered I had NO HEAT!!!! My furnance/boiler is leaking boiling water so my basement is flooded, my house is freezing and the gas company has been here 4 times between 2-9am without fixing the problem. Charming day huh? Now I'm headed off to the studio for another lovely 12 hours and have no idea about the state of my house when I return. Ugh. I say again. UGH. Tomorrow has got to get better. There is not enough wine right now to calm me down. *sigh*

uhm

Dee Henderson killed my favorite character...I don't like her books so much anymore. 12 inches of snow falling at the moment - not all at once of course. I have no idea how I'm going to make it to the post office before heading to the studio. Ugh. So pretty though....

Forgot to mention...

My dear college roomy Lisa Brown... celebrated her one year wedding anniversary on Sunday. Congrats Lisa & Matt!

Snow

Still snowing...I think we're going on 24 hours straight. Pretty...at least it's above zero degrees : ) Another rehearsal. Recording. Good start. Slept a lot. Bye for now.
